The Redhill Business Guild

The Redhill Business Guild was established in September 2016 and the first meeting held in the Harlequin Theatre. The group quickly established common goals and a genuine desire to enhance the town we all work in. Within a couple of meetings our objectives were decided upon and a logo designed (by Sarah from Pick Me Designs). Our objectives are to:

·       Create a strong single voice and channel of communication for the Redhill business community

·       Bring forward community events for the benefit of businesses and residents of Redhill

·       Promote Redhill as a place to do business, to live and be part of an inclusive community

·       Facilitate local communication and fully contribute to local initiatives and projects.

We have a committee that looks after the day-to-day running of the Guild which comprises:

Andy Nash – Chair

Paula Edwards – Vice Chair and Marketing

Diane Dunkley – Reigate and Banstead Borough Council representative

Donna Matthews – Membership Manager

Phil Jones – Treasurer

Robin Brown – Committee Member

Justin Drayton – Committee Member

Compared to other local Guilds, such as our colleagues at the Reigate Business Guild, we are relatively young, but we have attracted the support and membership of businesses both large and small across the town.

We meet every other month (plus a social in December) for business networking and a formal meeting where we have a variety of different speakers each time. Speakers include County Councillors, Borough Councillors, property developers, Surrey Police, Reigate and Banstead Borough Council, local charities and organisations and members. The meetings are a great opportunity to not only find out what is going on in Redhill, but to have your say in local matters. For example, in January 2023 Solum/Keir Property presented its plans for the redevelopment of Redhill Station to the group and asked for feedback, which was given by 14 different members! The meetings can also be utilised by members to make a presentation to the group about its business, either as a full presentation with slides, or a brief talk about the services on offer. It’s a great conversation starter and has resulted in many new connections being formed.

The meetings are also a great forum to discuss how the Guild can support the town and it’s individual businesses. Through local sponsorship and a lot of organisation we have been able to provide the giant Christmas tree in the centre of town each year. In 2023 we also ran a festive campaign through November and December to promote every local activity and event taking place in Redhill during the festive period.

2023 also saw the Guild deliver it’s first two Town Activation events. With High Street footfall falling nationally, we want to support our existing and new town centre businesses by driving meaningful footfall into the town. The launch of The Light in June 2023 was a great opportunity to introduce leisure into the town and we ensured that we supported this with our first #DestinationRedhill event.

We have always welcomed input and ideas from around the town and the Guild has grown stronger because of our diversity and different perspectives. By working together our voice can be heard, our opinions taken into consideration and the future of Redhill is a little bit brighter.

We would love to welcome more businesses of all sizes to the Guild – whether you are a solopreneur or big business, your input will help the town. Please get in contact if you would like to find out more about joining or sponsoring any of our activities. Email redhillbusinessguild@gmail.com.
